Han Young Wook was born in 1963, in Korea.

Born in 1963, Korean artist Han Young-Wook’s studied at Hong-Ik University in Seoul, South Korea, where he received a Bachelor and Masters of Fine Arts. An exceptional talent, Young-Wook paints photorealistic portraiture that depicts ordinary human beings, laying bare human imperfection in mural-sized paintings. Instead of using typical methods of oil painting, Young-Wook’s process involves painting aluminum and then scratching off the oil paint, revealing his subjects rather than developing them.

The nuance in his works are so intricate that many are shocked to find out that Young-Wook does not use photography anywhere in his artistic process, but rather everything he paints is painted organically. Young-Wook held his first solo exhibition at Galerie Bhak, Seoul in 2008, and has widely exhibited his work around the world including, “Art Taipei” (2009, Taipei); “Art Karlsruhe,” (2009, Germany); Art ASIA in Miami, (2008, Miami); “Art Fair Tokyo”(2008, Tokyo); “Art Cologne-Palma de Mallorca”(2007, Spain); “SH Contemporary 0”, Shanghai, (2007, China).
