Gili Blacher ; b.1988

Gili Blacher is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in printmaking and painting. His work combines traditional printmaking techniques—woodcut, engraving, and etching—with acrylic, oil, and watercolor, creating layered compositions that explore themes of human emotion, urban landscapes, and materiality.

From 2011 to 2013, he focused on large-scale prints, integrating expressive forms and dynamic color combinations. Between 2013 and 2017, his work shifted toward urban themes, using printed city grids as a structural foundation to examine the relationship between urban planning and nature. Another significant aspect of his practice involves the reinterpretation of internal body organs—such as the heart, brain, and intestines—transforming them into autonomous visual elements adorned with ornamental patterns and botanical motifs.

His work is deeply influenced by art history, ancient manuscripts, archaeology, urban planning, and architectural structures. Through a meticulous process that merges printmaking and painting, he explores the tension between contrasting elements, revealing unexpected connections between form, material, and meaning.
