Textiel Museum Residency |  Zvia Green

In May 2026, Israeli artist Zvia Green completed an artist residency at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where she produced a new body of textile works exploring memory, heritage, and storytelling.

Created in collaboration with the museum’s renowned TextileLab, the works draw inspiration from motifs of fish, traditional tiles, and symbolic imagery that have crossed generations, carrying stories of cultural continuity, migration, and belonging. Through these recurring symbols, Green investigates how visual languages are passed down, preserved, and reinterpreted over time.

Using the Jacquard weaving technique, she transformed these motifs into richly layered textiles, combining historical references with contemporary textile technology. The residency provided an opportunity to expand her artistic practice while engaging with the possibilities of weaving as a medium for narrative and cultural expression.

This new series reflects Green’s ongoing interest in connecting personal and collective histories through material, pattern, and symbol. Developed in Tilburg and shaped by the expertise of the TextileLab, the works open new directions in her exploration of tradition, memory, and the stories woven into everyday life.
