Artist Forced to Flee Israel for the U.S. Through Jordan Amid Missile Attacks — Yet Still Promises: “I’m Definitely Coming Back” 

Abstract artist Alec De Marco came to Israel to show his work in an exhibition — and suddenly found himself in the middle of the war with Iran. “I felt helpless,” the artist shares, “but strangely, since then I feel calmer.” Now back home in rural northern Washington State, he explains why he threw out all of his sketches from before his time in Israel, the harrowing experience crossing the border into Jordan (“there were lots of guns — for you that’s half-normal”), and his journey from young tattoo apprentice to painter selling works for tens of thousands of dollars.
